SA Tax Guide is a static information site about SARS services. There is no account to create, no login to use, and no tax record held here. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to anything you type into this site — and what never leaves your device.
Information this site does not ask for
No guide, tool, or search box on this site asks for your tax number, ID number, password, one-time PIN, or banking details. Do not enter those anywhere here, including in the contact form. Reading the guides and using the tools does not require your name, address, or contact details.
What you type into the tools stays in your browser
The eight homepage tools — Income Tax, PAYE, Tax Refund, VAT, Tax Penalty, Tax Debt Repayment, and the two status checkers — run on your own device. The numbers you enter are calculated in your browser and are not sent to this site, to SARS, or to anyone else by this site. Closing the page clears the calculation from view, and this site keeps no copy of it. The two status checkers are guidance only: they do not look up your tax status and they never ask for an identifier that could point to your tax record.
How site search works
The header search looks through a built-in list of this site’s own posts and tools, on your device. It does not send your search words to an outside service, and it does not record what you searched for. It only helps you find a guide or a tool already on this site.
The contact form
The Contact Us form asks for a name, an email address, and a message, so a correction or suggestion can be followed up. That form is front-end only and is not connected yet, so nothing typed into it is sent at this time. Until it is connected, treat anything you type there as unsent, and never include personal tax details in it.
Links to other sites
Guides link to sars.gov.za for official steps. Once you leave this site, the other site’s own privacy rules apply, and this site has no control over what that site collects. That is why guides always point you to the official SARS site itself, rather than to a copy of it.
Changes to this page
If how this site handles information changes — for example, if the contact form is connected — this page will be updated to say so, and the change will be described here rather than hidden in general wording.
